Angeline Marie Martinez was born and raised by exiled Cuban U.S. citizens in North Miami Beach, Florida without the typical GenX Cuban-American experience. Her paintings are vibrant and energetic without the darkness often found in artworks of those who left Cuba. Angeline feels visiting Cuba would betray all the reasons her family left in 1961. Studying with Cuban expressionist painter Baruj Salinas added textures and a broader palette to her paintings.
Angeline continues to develop her artistic curriculum through online classes, books and videos. Her work is a combination of acrylics and collage, often incorporating her love of palm trees, cats, and imaginative creatures. Her funky, quirky, cool works can be seen in the private collections across North America. When she is not painting, she can be found sketching, floating in her swimming pool or at baseball games.
