6/3/2020 Cats, a Dog and a BreakWow.
All I have left about current events and what's been happening. How about we all take a break and welcome some new cats on my studio block? The lovely at the top left is Moconi. She went home in January. Maya is the lovely happy pup on the right. She also went home in January. The first two cats were born during the Quarantine. The last one just came out of hiding, but had to share because it's sooooo appropriate! All three are available and $80, 6x6 inches, acrylics on paper. If you'd like it have it ready to hang, $95 on 6x6 inch wood panel or $125 on 8x8 inch wood panel. Shipping and handling is extra. 8/6/2019 Cats & Dogs - Love them this week! There are two pet holidays this week! This Thursday, August 8th, is International Cat Day. I wonder what Heathclif and Garfield are doing all day? This Saturday, August 10th, is Spoil Your Dog Day. It is also happens to be National Be Lazy Day...maybe take lots of naps with your dog? I'll be adding some paint to big pup Carly while cat Simon sips from his very own studio water dish. If I'm lazy at all, it will on purpose, swinging from our hammock while enjoying time with my guy Andy. Whatever you do, are you going to give a scratch behind the ears to your best furry friend? 6/5/2019 Pop up cat cafe - the art sideBlanco y Blanco's Jeanne made up a painting station for those kids and big kids that wanted to use stencils to paint their own cats.
I decided to take a few clip boards and pencils and ask the adults (big shy kids who would never try to paint) if they wanted to try sketching a cat. I am proud to display two courageous as well as stupendous sketches of cats!!!! They each did a super work of getting the movement down of the cat or kitten they were watching. After all, that's what's fun about drawing - getting the idea on paper! Applaud them along with me! I don't have their names and one left their sketches (which are going into my sketchbook, ja ja ja, as a fun memory of this day). 6/3/2019 Pop up cat cafe - people stuffIf you're looking for cats here, there are a few in this post. This post concentrates more on the space from our perspective of being human. Abandoned Pet Rescue and Blanco y Blanco Gallery works very well together for this event. It was a joy! If you've not yet been to a cat cafe - meWOW! Andy and I got there early to set up and meWOW!
The volunteers from Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) determined that three adult cats, two just out of kitten hood, and a whole little of kittens had the personality to enjoy humans wanting to give them attention. The volunteers came in with the carriers, and we heard the cats before we saw them. Yoga mats, toys, a cat condo, food and water dishes, a corral were all brought out. The carriers were set in the back and opened. Slowly, the cats sneaked out...and found all the places they wanted to visit. At one point, there were at least 50 people in Blanco y Blanco, all holding purring cats or kittens, playing with them, walking and enjoying them play with each other. The space never felt crowded - unless you were someone waiting their turn for a cat, lol! Most of the people treats were enjoyed while waiting for a cat to be freed. Andy & I truly enjoyed the Pop Up Cat Cafe by Abandoned Pet Rescue. It was an easy fun afternoon for almost everyone involved, including the cats! I don't know how many cats were actually adopted, but I certainly hope a few were. Non profit shelters take note: if you can find a lovely space for a Pop Up Cat Cafe closer to Homestead, Florida, yes, we'll take my Goofy Cat Paintings and help your event! Without further ado...the photos, lol!!!! |
