This brilliant orange and green hummingbird with the red hibiscus flower is also unique in that the layered background of purples, blues, and magentas happen rarely in my studio. I usually prefer to have these colors in the hummingbird, but this hummingbird begged to be different. It’s a beautiful golden orange and reds colors, with some hints of green when looking closely at this hummingbird.
This is a companion, of sorts, to Hummingbird Purple-Green with Coral Hibiscus Flower 6 by 9 inches. These paintings used to share a larger area of 12 by 9 inches, but each hummingbird asked for their own rectangle.
This piece is unframed and unmounted. It is on paper protected with layers of clear acrylic paints.
