I love June. It's summertime. It's all about cats. Take a look at the pet holidays and you'll notice lots of Cat Days!
My favorite day? National Garfield the Cat Day.
I used to send out calendar pages to my email subscribers. This was my painting for June: Hungry Cats See Through Aquarium, 14 by 11 inches, acrylics on canvas panel, ©2013. There should be a familiar looking cat in this painting, lol.
There are so many things this month of May besides the whole Star Wars reference, lol.
I think my favorite is World Turtle Day, at the end of the month!
This isn't a mutt, but had to share this cutie pie I painted for a gift for Beth. This little character kept me in smiles while we shared my imaginary studio pet playground. He's 8 by 8 inches, acrylics on wood panel. If you'd like your own pet painting, see below for more info!
Easter this year falls on the 12th. There is so much more to April than bunnies and chicks!
Here is the list for April for holidays concerning pets and animals.

All the animals come Marching in...sorry...had to write that...
For your social media posting pleasure, here are the March dates for different animals!
This was a commissioned pet portrait. This pig's name is Vidalia, she is 7 by 5 inches, acrylics on stretched canvas, 2019.
One thing I really want you to enjoy is the background of your pet's painting.
This gets tricky when you are going to show off your pet painting in the same home.
These two paintings are going to different homes, but the cat is going to a home where they already have a blue background. So the cat's is a little more green, compared to the blue of the dog's.
Can you tell the difference between the backgrounds?
There are two pet holidays this week!
This Thursday, August 8th, is International Cat Day. I wonder what Heathclif and Garfield are doing all day?
This Saturday, August 10th, is Spoil Your Dog Day. It is also happens to be National Be Lazy Day...maybe take lots of naps with your dog?
I'll be adding some paint to big pup Carly while cat Simon sips from his very own studio water dish. If I'm lazy at all, it will on purpose, swinging from our hammock while enjoying time with my guy Andy.
Whatever you do, are you going to give a scratch behind the ears to your best furry friend?

Dudley, Family Protector, 11 by 7 inches, acrylics on wood panel, private collection
May We Help Hang Catnip?, 14 by 11 inches, acrylics on canvas, in a private collection
2016 began with a bucket-list painting workshop with Bob Burridge.
One of the things he taught was how to reuse dried acrylic paint. This was the first design I made, using what he taught. Bob came by table...and enthusiastically yelled out to me that my next series was going to be of cats.
Bob was correct. Whenever I feel super sad, frustrated, upset, and in need of a smile, I go through my stash of dry acrylic paint and make a goofy cat.
This little goofy cat is based on Simon. This one is staying in my collection, unless the adoption offer makes me think twice, lol. It's called "1st Simon," is acrylics on 6 by 6 inches on wood board.
